Back then, there were a lot of kids around, and while it seems like a lot now, it was just normal for that time. Nowadays, it’s pretty uncommon to see so many children together.
Having children, even one or two, is still a challenge.
Nowadays, most families have about 1 to 3 kids. It’s kind of like back in the day! Our grandparents grew up in big families with 6 to 10 children!
In the 1920s, a family from Boston, USA, caught the eye of Leslie Jones, a photographer for the Boston Herald-Traveler magazine.
The family had a mom, a dad, ten daughters, two sons, and a baby. It’s hard to tell if the baby is a boy or a girl just by looking at the picture.
The older kids in these pictures were already teenagers when they were taken, and the youngest one looked like he was around four years old, not counting the baby being held by their mom.
There are so many kids! They definitely had to do a bunch of chores, learn how to share, and wear hand-me-downs from their older siblings. But it looks like they figured out how to make their own little world work just fine.
Mom and dad were probably proud of their offspring.
What does it cost just to polish all your shoes! Like any other family, they had their own system in everything.
This family had just one car, but they found a way to squeeze everyone inside it.
We really wish they only traveled this way for short trips because it’s not safe! Even though things were different back then and cars weren’t as fast…
Naturally, there was no talk of car seats for children then!
They were crazy about the car, but about the same umbrella… Not so much!
But at least they tried!
